Dispatch of the Oculus Rift is to start on March 28.

Oculus Rift（オキュラス　リフト）、HTC Vive、PlayStation VR, come to market with one after another in 2016 first half

It was the world of the story of SF until a little while ago, Head-mounted display that can experience the virtual reality (VRHMD) is, scheduled to be launched in the first half of this year all over the world.



I introduce three of virtual reality for a head-mounted display to be launched by June.

• Olulus Rift
• HTC Vive
• Play Station VR

Oculus Rift

VR device that most has become a hot topic

The first thing to appear is "Oculus Rift". Oculust Rift's reservation has already started on January 7th, 2016 and the shipments for the first time will begin on March 28.


At  the second half of January, the booking for July is completed and if you make a reservation from now on, the shipping is after next fall.


However, it seems to start even over-the-counter sales in part of countries from April.


The product contents pack a head-mounted display, a headphone corresponding to VR surround, an  attitude sensors to be attached to the personal computer, an one-handed remote control, a Xbox One dedicated controller and two game software.


And the price is $599. Plus, it includes tax and shipping in this.








The feature of Oculus Rift is

• Field of view angle is 110 °
• You can watch 3D videos
• It is not delayed image to the movement of the head
• A higher resolution than that of the conventional (Developer's Kit version), 2,160 × 1,200 dot at both eyes

Oculus Rift was the planning that has been published in the "Kickstarter", the cloudfunding site, and people who ordered the developers kit in 2012 will be able to receive the current product version for free.

Although developers kit had been released also the second generation "DK2", it was discontinued in October  2015 because the product version come to be sold.

Oculus Rift has become a hot topic in March 2014. Zuckerberg announced that Facebook has agreed to acquire Oculus VR company at 20 billion dollars. 

Currently, Oculus Rift is compatible only with Windows. Oculus founder Palmer Luckey said "That is up to Apple and if they ever release a good computer we will do it,"and "It just boils down to the fact that Apple doesn’t prioritize high-end GPUs. You can buy a $6,000 Mac Pro with the top of the line AMD FirePro D700, and it still doesn’t match our recommended spec."

HTC　Vive

With starting the reservation, more than 15,000 units were sold in 10 minutes

On March 1, the reservation acceptance of HTC Vive began and shipment will begin on April 5. HTC Vive was fabricated by co-development of Taiwanese smart phone maker HTC and PC game-related Valve.


The price of HTC Vive is $799, plus tax and shipping charges are added to this.


The price is higher than the Oculus Rift, but 15,000 more than one order is entered in the 10 minutes from the start of the reservation. When you reserve from now, it will be shipped after May.



Yet so much of the price, it is popular, this seems because they have their own technology.






The best feature of HTC Vive is room scale mode. When you put the sensor at the corner of the room, and wearing the HTC Vive, feels like walking in the virtual space up to the diagonal 5m.



If you use the site of the game content ,the Stream, which Valve Corporation provide, you can enjoy the immersive games. Stream is a platform that includes users of more than 100 million people in the world and he is in concert with the HTC Vive, more likely to present a major impact on the game market.



On the manual for the HTC Vive, a person suffering from heart disease should talk to your doctor before playing the games and  there is a possibility to stimulate the post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).  HTC Vive's virtual reality would be powerful enough effects on the mind and body are assumed.

PlayStation VR

Play PlayStation4 games in virtual reality

PlayStation VR will be available in October 2016 and set to cost $399. The best selling point is to enjoy PlayStation4, world wide game hard, games and the fan is looking forward to the release from now.







In terms of viewing angles and resolution, PlayStation VR is no match to the Oculus Rift, but PlayStation has a lot of fixed fan and in PlayStation VR, it has  a feature in the game operation in the virtual space.


In addition to the usual "Dualshock4", "PlayStation®Move motion controller" will appear in the stick-type sold separately. For example, grab things, or shoot a gun, you can play with body sensation to match the movement of the hand to allow in the virtual space.

If you want to try a little experience before buying the authentic VRHMD

But, these products are more fairly price either. You need a courage to buy. Actually trying to experience before you buy a really full-scale, such as Oculus Rift, might be good for you.
